Visy Plastics – Large scale recycling full WashLine install

Baillie Industries was engaged to deliver the installation of a large-scale recycling washline system at the Visy Plastics facility in Somerton, Victoria.

This project formed a critical component of Victoria’s recycling infrastructure and was required to be delivered within a tight 47-day installation program to meet commissioning deadlines.

Scope

Baillie Industries provided a full mechanical installation package, including:

  • Installation of washline processing equipment (BoReTech system)
  • Structural steel installation, including platforms, access systems, and support frames
  • Mechanical installation of conveyors, tanks, and associated
    plant equipment
  • Fabrication and installation of process pipework (stainless and mild steel)
  • Receiving, unloading, and managing equipment deliveries across 41 shipping containers
  • Coordination and liaison with overseas OEM representatives from China during installation
  • Integration of new equipment into the existing plant layout
  • Support through commissioning and post-installation optimisation

All works were delivered with a strong focus on safety, quality,
and program adherence.

Outcome

The project was successfully delivered within the required timeframe, achieving:

  • Safe execution within a live production and construction environment
  • Efficient handling, tracking, and installation of equipment across 41 shipping containers
  • Seamless coordination with international OEM representatives
  • Improved installation efficiency through the use of in-house lifting and access equipment, including Franna cranes and boom lifts
  • Installation of structural steel platforms, access systems, and support structures
  • Fabrication and installation of process pipework systems
  • Installation of conveyors and associated mechanical plant equipment
  • On-site commissioning support and troubleshooting assistance
  • 24-hour on-site trades support during the initial post-commissioning period to ensure smooth operation and reliability
